I'm Back!

Ok tonight I hit the gym and I was beyond excited for it! I listened to soca all the way there and got myself really pumped. Listening to 2011 soca is such an energy boost. I hit the cardio machines and went hard, I killed down 400 calories in 30 minutes so that I coulds spend some time on the strength training machines.

It was great. I pumped 140 pounds for some of my leg presses and did 70 pounds on my quads. The entire time all I could think about was that first bite I will take into my fresh bake and shark at Maracas. It's a sweet life and I can't wait to take part in it!

Here is a pic...till next time. Keep fit and have fun!

Working off that one extra pound

Wednesday nights workout. I finally feel like I'm getting. Back into a routine with my workout from last night. I was able to pump out some great cardio which is what I never do unless I'm at the gym so it's important that I make my visits regular. Last night I hoped on the running/elliptical combo machine for 30 mins and gave a strong effort. I was listening to a great soca promo mix by D'enforcas so that was a huge help in not only keeping me motivated to stay on the machine but also to remind me that I'm in the gym because I will be in Trinidad for Carnival!!!

After my cardio set I hit the weight machines and worked on my legs and my arms, I realized that I haven't been focusing on my biceps enough so that's an area to increase. To finish off I completed a core workout routine  with alternating squats and lunges.

I gained 1 pound last week which set me back and I now need to go harder to make goal weight for Mar 2 when I head for Barbados and Trinidad :)

Stay tuned to see if I struggle or succeed!

BEACH!

FYI

this post was written previously but is now getting posted.

Ok so last night I really wanted to hit the gym but just thinking of goon outside in this snow is enough to make me pack my bags and move down south, marry someone name Manuel and call it a day! So instead I got my workout from shoveling for 40 mins. I know that doesn't sound all that intense but you have to keep in mind that I have the worlds longest drive way and I hadn't shoveled more than a pathway since before the weekend. So trust me there was piles of snow that needed to be dealt with. And they were :)

Yay for fitness, I have 23 days left until my feet touch beautiful Barbados and then I make my way to the land of oil and music. Sweet sweet TnT. Can't wait to see family and friends and of course....the beach!

Back on the Scene

I'm slacking on posting the actual day of my workouts. Let me share last Saturday's workout with you.

I was determined to put in a heavy duty work out because I had fallen behind with this first week at a new job that means a longer commute which then means a longer day. I started off on the elliptical and focused on increasing my resistance each time my incline increased. I was very difficult to stay in this pattern but I was determined to give an intense workout.

After being on the elliptical for 30 mins I hit the treadmill and did 25 mins of interval training. I like hitting the treadmill at the end of my cardio session because it serves as a great cool down before doing weights. I dis about an hour on weights and core on Saturday which is more than I usually can stand.

I started off with some leg press machines, then worked my triceps and biceps. I headed down to the womens only gym and did a core rotund of crunches, bicycles, and planks. After I repeated my weight machine sets and continued alternating squats and lunges with a core work out.

I felt great by the end of the work out!

Sadly I am disappointed in myself for not reaching the gym on Sunday. Thankfully I found out that there is a gym in my office building that is crazy cheap for employees so I need to investigate that this week...when I find a window of me time ;) the world of events is crazy intense but I love every minute of it!

Crapy surprises

Ok people...I'm posting from my phone tonight because I'm too lazy to start my laptop up again.

My workout was interesting to say the least. I forced myself to go to the gym and I'm really happy that I did because my body needed the workout after the Chinese take out from this weekend...and not to mention the massive amount of vodka. (oh Whitney when will you learn).

This was the most frustrating workout because when I got to my gym and hit the change room I realized that I forgot my sports bra...not fun but thank god I had an extra tight tank top that doubled as my support :) I wasn't going to let that get my workout down. After I changed and got my iPod out I realized even more foolishness...I forgot my runners in the car!!! If u know my gym u would know that it's too much of a pain to go back to ur car after you have changed. I said screw it and worked out anyways. Luckily there is a womens only gym attached to the changeroom that is all carpeted so I didn't let this cramp my style. I did a variety of ab workouts along with squats and lunges. I did a strong workout on the circuit weight machines and then did a few leg and core moves from the pilates class that I go to.

It was a pretty lame work out lol.

Till next time folks, keep fit and have fun! (any guesses where that is from?)
